It was midnight and Salem crawled over to his sleeping lover. It was kind of a special night, Thomas told him about it and he wanted to share it with Kodak. He put a gentle hand on Kodak’s bare shoulder and shook him. “My love, wake up.”
Kodak’s eyes fluttered open and he sat up quickly, thinking there was something wrong with his lover. “Salem? Are you okay? What’s goin’ on?” he yawned groggily. His blue eyes dim grew brighter as he woke up from his slumber.
The human shook his head and kissed Kodak’s forehead. “Everything is fine. Come with me, please? I need to show you something.”
Curious, Kodak slipped out of bed, without clothes of course. It wasn’t anything new, the two tend to walk around naked because they were comfortable with each other. He followed his mate out of their home into the dark forest. Instantly he went on alert mode to keep Salem safe. He wrapped an arm around him only to have the human start climbing one of the trees nearby. “What—”
"C’mon. Please?" Salem gave Kodak his best puppy dog look and started to climb up and disappeared in the thick leaves.
Kodak jumped up and climbed after him to the top where Salem sat one one of the bigger branches. He immediately recognized it as the branch he had used his powers to manipulate so they could use it as a platform. Salem was already laying back and he followed suit.
"Thomas told me there was a meteor shower tonight and I have never seen one. You probably have seen many in your life but…I thought it might be romantic." Salem found Kodak’s hand and squeezed it.
Kodak’s heart melted at his mate confessed to him what he wanted and he pulled him closer. “I may have seen dozens of meteor showers Salem but this one will be like no other.” He kissed him deeply, displaying his love and affection. This meteor shower would be precious because he would be with Salem.
He returned the kiss, smiling against his lips. He loved Kodak with all he had, and he vowed silently he would love him forever. “I love you Kodak,” he whispered when they broke apart.
A flash caught Salem’s eyes and the sky suddenly lit up with meteors. They streaked across the sky quickly and it looked like it was raining fire. It was beautiful.
"Isn’t there a tradition where humans make a wish when stars fall?" Kodak asked softly. He couldn’t help his hands off Salem, they moved over his arms and sides to memorize the contours and curves of him.
Salem chuckled and glanced at Kodak. “It’s only if there is one falling star. Besides…I don’t need a wish. I have you and that’s all I want.”
